Remote.io is a remote job board connecting companies with talent worldwide. Built and operated by A7 Labs over the past several years, it's proven the concept works. Now we need a technical co-founder to take ownership and transform it into the #1 destination for finding and hiring vetted remote talent.
This is different from most co-founder roles. You're not starting from zero. You're inheriting a platform with real users and proven demand. But the job board model is just the beginning. We're looking to fundamentally transform the product into a comprehensive talent platform that goes far beyond job listings.
Once we've rebuilt Remote.io, we also have additional premium domains in the same space ready to launch similar platforms on, multiplying our market reach and opportunity.
You'll be the technical co-founder with ownership of Remote.io's technical direction and execution. Working closely with the CEO, you'll drive the product transformation, technical strategy, and scaling plan as we move beyond the job board model.
Beyond building the product, you'll also collaborate with the CEO on fundraising strategy. This means deciding whether to pursue accelerator programs, traditional funding routes, or scaling fast enough to generate revenue that can support an initial team.
This is an equity-based co-founder role with no initial salary. What you earn depends on what you build. As we hit milestones, revenue, or secure funding, compensation transitions to market rate while maintaining your equity position.
Taking over technical ownership of the Remote.io platform and infrastructure
Leading the product transformation from job board to comprehensive talent platform
Implementing AI systems for talent vetting, matching, and automation
Building and deploying across multiple premium domains as we scale
Developing fundraising strategy and execution plan with the CEO
Eventually recruiting and leading the technical team
Making strategic and business decisions as a founding team member
This is true co-founder ownership with shared decision-making across the founding team.
Must have:
Full-stack engineering experience from concept to deployment
Ability to prototype quickly using tools like Windsurf or Cursor
Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React Router/Remix or Next.js
Strong AWS background (RDS, API Gateway, SES, Lambda) and serverless infrastructure
Experience with REST APIs, LLM implementation, and prompt engineering
PHP/Laravel knowledge (for legacy system maintenance, not future direction)
Previous startup founding or early-stage experience (strongly preferred)
Track record of successful fundraising or rapid revenue scaling (strongly preferred)
Ability to thrive in ambiguity and move fast
Strong product intuition and eye for design
Long-term commitment to building something significant
Bonus points:
Experience scaling startups or leading technical teams
Comfortable stepping into a product lead role when needed
Understanding of recruitment tech or marketplace dynamics
Network within investor or accelerator communities
Equity: Significant founding ownership with standard vesting. The exact percentage depends on timing, experience, and contribution scope.
The platform: A live product with real users, existing infrastructure, and multiple premium domains ready to scale on.
Profit sharing: When milestones are hit, you share the upside immediately. No need to wait for an exit.
Funding opportunities: As we scale, you'll participate in fundraising and secure capital to accelerate growth.
Portfolio ownership: Beyond Remote.io, you'll have the opportunity to become a shareholder in other ventures within the A7 Labs portfolio.
