ABOUT THE ROLE

Mansueto Ventures, the parent company of Inc. and Fast Company , is seeking a highly organized and strategic Event Director to oversee the development and execution of world-class events that embody the excellence of our brands. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to design and deliver events that delight attendees, provide exceptional value to sponsors, and enhance the reputation of Inc. and Fast Company . The ideal candidate will excel at balancing creativity and operational excellence, driving both revenue growth and profitability while setting new benchmarks for innovation and engagement.

 

The Event Director will report to the Senior Vice President of MV Live and will lead a small, high-performing team, fostering a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment. This role requires strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering impactful experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.

 

This full-time role is based in New York, with onsite presence required at least three days per week (Tuesday – Thursday).

 

Salary range: $130,000 - $160,000 + bonus eligible. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, industry, and education.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Event Planning and Execution:
    • Oversee the planning and execution of events of varying scales, from intimate gatherings to large-scale productions, for the  Inc. and Fast Company brands.
    • Ensure event execution reflects the quality, integrity, and mission of MV Live events and creates memorable experiences.
    • Oversee the review and negotiation of contracts and agreements with venues and vendors.
    • Create, manage, and reconcile budgets to ensure effective cost management and the financial success of each event.
    • Oversee the RFP (Request for Proposal) process for high-cost aspects of events, securing the most cost-effective solutions that meet our requirements while maintaining exceptional quality and service standards.
    • Have a high degree of comfort leading large team meetings with internal stakeholders to ensure events remain on schedule, align with objectives, and meet key performance indicators.
    • Manage all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, vendor management, identifying freelance needs, and hiring appropriately.
    • Develop relationships with in-kind partners to find cost savings and enhance event experiences.
    • Review survey results to understand audience preferences and incorporate solutions to improve future events.
    • Collaborate with Consumer Marketing, PR, and editorial teams to promote events and drive attendance.
    • Design events that prioritize inclusivity and accessibility for diverse audiences while incorporating sustainable practices to promote social responsibility.
    • Create and implement innovative strategies to enhance value for existing subscribers while leveraging events to attract and engage new paying subscribers.
    • Stay ahead of industry trends to drive innovation and continually elevate the creativity and impact of event offerings.  
  • Leadership:
    • Lead a small, high-performing team, fostering a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment that encourages accountability and continuous growth to achieve goals.
    • Provide clear direction, feedback, and professional development opportunities for direct reports.
    • Serve as the Event Lead for sponsorship ideation, collaborating closely with Marketing and Sales teams to develop innovative, customized sponsorship opportunities that align with client objectives and enhance event value.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 10+ years of event production and logistics experience.
  • 3+ years management experience providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Ability to lead high-level, large-scale meetings with confidence and professionalism.
  • Experience working at a media company preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other productivity tools (e.g. Airtable) a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Exceptional time-management skills.
  • Flexible team player who is willing to do what it takes to get the job done; adaptable and enjoys a challenge.
