CSTEP Education Specialist

The Research Foundation of SUNY, a private, not for profit educational corporation, invites applications for an Education Specialist with the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) at SUNY Potsdam. CSTEP is a NYS Education Department grant program designed to increase the number of economically disadvantaged students who are pursuing careers in Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), health fields, or licensed professions. The position is part-time or 75% FTE. The annual salary range for this position is $26,674 - $27,750.

The CSTEP Education Specialist will support the Director in meeting all program requirements, maintaining, student enrollment, and ensuring effective service delivery in line with grant guidelines. Responsibilities include administrative support, student advising in academics, personal development, and financial aid, as well as preparation for internships, research, and post-graduation opportunities. The Specialist will lead mentoring, tutoring, and STEM-related program initiatives, and assist in planning workshops, events, and the Career Readiness Seminar. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. More specifically, the Education Specialist will:

Assist with student recruitment and determine program eligibility, as needed, Provide individual and group support, including academic advising, personal, and career guidance, and monitoring student progress, Collaborate with campus departments to coordinate comprehensive support services Plan and chaperone field trips, graduate school visits, conferences and other off-campus events, Help secure student research, internship, and service-learning opportunities on and off campus, Develop and lead student development workshops and outreach initiatives, Collect, analyze, and report data for program assessment and evaluation, Promote CSTEP through events, social media, email, Microsoft Teams, and phone outreach, Track and report student participating in internships, research, and service-learning activities, Represent the program at campus and community events, Engage with prospective students, alumni and external partners, Maintain accurate student records and track academic progress, Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in psychology, a related field, or a STEM discipline, OR a combination of education and experience, Strong oral and written communication skills, Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities, Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Valid NYS Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in psychology, a related field, or a STEM discipline, Experience working with culturally diverse college student populations, Demonstrated creativity, organization, adaptability, and motivations with a strong interest in student development, Proficiency with BANNER, Starfish, and social media platforms for student engagement and communication.
