**West Valley Recycling** , a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety conscious **Heavy Truck Technician** to join the team in **San Jose, CA** ! Previous waste experience would be a huge _plus_ ! This will be a Monday - Friday position working Mon-Thurs **2:00pm - 10:30pm** and Friday 12:00pm - 8:30pm. Some overtime is required. This is a union position with a pension plan, plus fully paid benefits (medical, dental, vision) for employees + dependents. **The starting wage is $42.36/hour.** The pay scale for this position is $42.36-52.95/hour. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. + Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs. + Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. + Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. + Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment. + Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns. Class B CDL _preferred_ or ability to obtain in the future. + Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: + Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement _preferred_ or the ability to obtain in the future required. + Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
