Day-in-the-Life: Precision Wire EDM Machinist

Join our team in St. Charles, MO, 63304 and take ownership of precision cutting work that drives our manufacturing forward. As a Wire EDM specialist, you'll translate complex prints into flawless components, balancing accuracy, efficiency, and safety throughout every shift.

A Day in This Role

You begin by reviewing work orders and studying blueprints and CAD models. You load and thread the wire, set fixtures, establish offsets, and validate parameters. After a careful first-article inspection, you monitor the machine, fine-tuning feeds, speeds, and flushing to maintain optimal performance. Throughout the day, you collaborate with teammates to solve problems, perform routine maintenance to keep the equipment reliable, and keep your station tidy and safe. You wrap up by inspecting finished parts, documenting results, and preparing the next setup.

Core Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Wire EDM machines to produce intricate, high-precision parts to specification.
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD data to plan accurate setups and toolpaths.
• Continuously monitor machine conditions and make parameter adjustments to optimize cut quality.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure machine reliability and longevity.
• Inspect completed components for accuracy and surface finish; adjust processes to meet quality standards.
• Partner with teammates to troubleshoot, improve processes, and remove bottlenecks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.

What You Need to Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; a machining-related technical degree/certification preferred.
• Hands-on Wire EDM experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid grasp of machining fundamentals and quality control standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and prints.
• High attention to detail with a passion for precision work.
• Strong problem-solving skills; comfortable working independently and within a team.
• Familiarity with CAD software is a plus.
