Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Part-Time (30 hrs/week)
Hourly Rate: Regular: $65.11-148.56 per hour based on experience. On-call: hourly + $5.00 per hour

Position Overview:

The Juvenile Justice Intervention Center (JJIC), operated by the City of New Orleans, is a secure detention facility for youth awaiting court proceedings or placement. JJIC provides trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate medical and behavioral health care to residents, many of whom present with complex needs. We are seeking dedicated healthcare and behavioral health professionals to join our on-site team, delivering high-quality care 24/7 in compliance with state, federal, and juvenile justice standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Psychologist: PhD/PsyD
    • Psychiatrist: MD/DO
    • Psychiatric NP: Master’s + PMHNP certification
  • Licensure: Active Louisiana license in respective specialty
  • Experience: Experience with adolescent mental health in detention or high-risk settings.
  • Technical Skills: Skilled in evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Soft Skills: Crisis de-escalation, interdisciplinary collaboration, cultural sensitivity

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mental health assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Manage psychotropic medication regimens.
  • Provide crisis intervention and suicide risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, LCSWs, and school personnel.
