Medical Records Clerk

Maryville is seeking a detail oriented Medical Records Clerk to join our team and ensure that all resident health information ois accurately collectd, processed, and maintained in compliance with HIPAA and facility standards.

Job summary:
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for managing, organizing, and safeguarding resident medical records. This includes collecting and processing resident information, maintaining accurate and complete files, creating digital copies, and working within PointClickCare system to ensure records are updated and accessible to authorized personnel. The role involves assisting with general administrative duties and supporting the clinical and administrative team as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collect, review, and process resident healthy information and documentation
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and complete medical records in port paper and digital formats.
  • scan and upload a high volume of medical records into electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Utilize PointClickCare system for daily record management (experience preferred).
  • Safeguard patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations .
  • Assist with miscellaneous administrative and clerical duties as assigned. 
  • Operate standard office equipments (copiers, scanners, fax machine, etc.) efficiently.
  • Support staff with requests for medical record information while ensuring compliance and confident.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous Experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).
  • Working Knowledge of HIPPA and resident privacy and security regulations.
  • Certification as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred. 
  • Previous skilled nursing medical records experience STRONGLY preferred.
  • ICD 10 CM coding experience a plus.
Skills:
  • Strong data entry and record keeping skills with a high level of accuracy. 
  • Proficiency with computers and office equipment. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organization and time management abilities. 
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team. 
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms; frequently required to stand walk, talk, sit, and hear; occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach above shoulder height, reach below the waist, or lift as needed throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques are required.
